TOP - 1920's HAND CARVED PORTLAND STONE
Portland stone originates from the Isle of Portland in Dorset, England. This beautiful creamy-white limestone has been quarried on the island for about 1,000 years. It's known for its extensive use in prominent buildings across the UK, particularly in London.
This hand-carved Portland stone top has a beautifully weathered patina with lovely age related pitting. It has a wonderfully hand crafted simple but elegant style with the wide rim and shallow bath. Its thick sides taper down to a narrow circular base. An extremely heavy, solid piece.
Perfectly suited for a birdbath, table top bird feeder or simply an art centre piece for a large outdoor table or stand alone piece of English garden art.

BASE - VICTORIAN SANDSTONE LOW PEDESTAL
A low tapered Sandstone pedestal dating to the 1860's. Another beautifully handcrafted piece of English garden history. It's beautifully aged showing the natural colour variations of the stone and a smooth sandy feel to touch. You can see there has been damage on the rolled rim at the top which has weathered and smoothed off over the years in the elements. Please note there is one corner on the base that has been chipped, this has also weathered smooth.
It's low, solid and heavy.
