Authentic Vintage English Pub Wooden Sign
It’s 1990 on an idyllic English summer’s evening in the village of Sutton in Surrey. A group of friends do last rounds at the pub and on their way out decide it would be fun to take the pub’s garden bar sign.
Well, one of them and his name is Trevor. He was 17 years old when he did this, and 49 years old when he decided it was time to part with it. This was in April at the Ardingly Antique and Vintage Fair when I spotted it and asked him if he knew the history?
He exchanged looks with his wife and then proceeded to tell me the story. He was rather embarrassed but I have to say, we all had a good laugh and he was thrilled to hear that it was coming to the other side of the world.
It’s in beautiful vintage condition with holes in the four corners to hang it. There are no splits or chips and only minor paint fading at the top. Trevor has quite clearly taken great care of it over the last 32 years.
Fabulous unique wall art for the verandah or indoors and a brilliant story to go with it, making it a great conversation piece.
